It is the great obsession of every abnormal drinker to want to drink like others. Many of us wish we could drink like we see others drink without the compulsion. I told my sponsor that I wished I could drink like that, normally. He assured me the program of recovery doesn't offer that. In fact he said that if they came with a pill today that would allow him to drink normally that he wouldn't take it. He said this was because he knew lots of normal drinkers that didn't have a life as good as the one the program of recovery offers, and that he'd be missing out on that.
