The Greatest Gift
THE GREATEST GIFT
There is a reason the joy we have on Christmas Day doesn’t last. There is a reason the love we have for one another at Christmastime isn’t felt throughout the year. There is a reason we don’t experience peace all year long like we do in the midst of the chaos on Christmas morning. The reason is we focus on the temporary gifts we receive from others rather than the greatest gift we have from God. The greatest gift is Jesus. Jesus can give us joy, love and peace throughout the year. And life everlasting. SCRIPTURE: Luke 2:8-12 “That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, but the angel reassured them. ‘Don’t be afraid!’ he said. ‘I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.’” (NLT) ACTION STEPS: 1. Write what you know about Jesus. 2. List what things you can share with others. 3. Remember only God’s gifts last forever. 4. Share the gifts of God with others today and every day. PRAYER: Dear Lord, we are so in awe of You. We are amazed at Your perfect plan in Jesus. We know the reason for true joy is Jesus. We know the only thing that really lasts from Christmas is Jesus. We know the story of Jesus should be told throughout the world. Help us, we pray, Lord. We want to share the Good News of the Greatest Gift anyone could ever experience. Show us ways to share Jesus. In Jesus name. Amen. REMEMBER: We are to remember the reason for the season and praise God for His Son, Jesus. Luke 2:13-14 “Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others—the armies of heaven—praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.’” (NLT) We are get excited about the Good News of Jesus and tell everyone about Him. Luke 2:16-17 “They hurried to the village and found Mary and Joseph. And there was the baby, lying in the manger. After seeing him, the shepherds told everyone what had happened and what the angel had said to them about this child.” (NLT) We are to keep in our hearts – all year long – the story of Jesus and think about Him every day. FOCUS: Luke 2:19 “but Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often.” (NLT) https://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_p...log_id=6640578
