Default Keep God First

Keep God First - by Joyce Meyer

It is good for all of us to occasionally examine our heart and make sure that we haven’t allowed anything or anyone to take the place that belongs only to God. We do not need to struggle for things, position, or power. All we need to do is seek God first, and He will add everything else that is right for us to have.

Ask yourself what most of your thoughts, conversation, time, and effort goes into, and if the answer is not God and His kingdom, then quickly make some adjustments. Possessions are enjoyable for all of us, but they have no life in them; therefore, they cannot give us life. Only God can do that. He is our life, and unless He stands first and has the preeminent position in our lives, we will eventually begin to sense deadness and have no lasting enjoyment in anything we do.

Always seek God’s face and not just His hand. Want Him more than you want what He can do for you. Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart (see Psalm 37:4).

Prayer: Father, I am sorry if I have put anything else before You. Forgive me and help me make the adjustments I need to make. You are more important than anything else in my life and I want all of my choices to reflect that truth.

We stay sober and clean together - one day at a time!
