Sounds like one day at a time things to me. I have to work on my emotional sobriety daily. It is the thinking behind the drinking and drugging, that steers me toward a relapse.
It is important for me to not act out in my disease. This morning was a good example. When I was going down to the pharmacy, my friend Bert got on the elevator. He looked pretty grumpy and had a sour look on his face. I thought I would make him smile, so I said, "Nice weather for ducts, eh!" He said, "Not all of us are ducks." I chose not to respond with the thought in my head, because he didn't seem to be in the mood for funnies. I bit my tongue on the words, "Oh I don't know, some days, you quack me uqup." It is not good to put someone down to make yourself feel better.
