Heard in a fellowship, get a sponsor opposite your sexual preference because you don't want a bunch of 'sponsettes' running around.
The focus is on recovery it isn't about your sexual preference. As one young man said, "I don't care if they look at me funny, I want what she has." I was his temporary sponsor until he found a sponsor. I also sponsored two gay guys. When it came to sharing the sexual part of their 4th Step, I suggested they go to a male member of their group or to a clergyman. I didn't know what a healthy relationship was. Had never had one. I could share about feelings, and as they say, "identify don't compare." It is about addiction and recovery, it isn't about being gay or straight.
