If Only
If Only Read Isaiah 46:1 through 49:26 Have you ever looked at yourself in the mirror and wondered how different your life might have been if you had made better choices? Instead of taking the time to consider the future, people often live life reacting to events, ever failing to see the pattern that developed when they didn’t consider the will of God each day. This is what the Lord says—your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go. If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river, your well-being like the waves of the sea” (Isaiah 48:17–18). Israel lived like a wayward child, pulling away from the love of God. God’s instruction and will for our lives were not given to hinder us in any way. To the contrary, His Word reveals what is best for us, and His Spirit leads us in peace with a joy that no one and nothing else could ever give. Thought for Today: God gave His best to us when He gave us His only Son.
