Default Curb appeal

Curb appeal

By Brandy Ferguson

I knew it was the house we were meant to have as soon as I pulled up to the curb. I could hardly wait to go inside and confirm that this was in fact, our new home. Hours passed before I could view the interior, but I had already decided that with the lovely surrounding houses and beautiful large lot, I was not going to be too picky.

Upon entering the home I was pleasantly greeted by its beauty and charm. Everything appeared polished and perfect and there was only one more viewing until we sealed the deal.

The inspection time came and I waited for my husband to look at me and say, "Yes, honey - this is the one!" I was surprised to learn that the house was not as perfect as it appeared. There were hidden surprises - holes, faulty wiring and cracks that would soon need fixing that would require thousands of dollars to repair.

How many of us have the ‘curb appeal’ like this house, seem to ‘have it all together’, and hide the fact that we are in need of internal maintenance? How much more effective can we be if we spend the time with God and allow Him to ‘fix’ things in our lives and in our hearts, instead of just covering them?

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is — His good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Romans 12:2 (NIV)
