Self-Control with Gratitude
Showing gratitude and appreciation to others is often overlooked. We may privately be thankful for what someone did but we may forget to tell them. We may notice the good deed but fail to recognize the person who did it. We may see someone who is working hard in the church or community but we not communicate to them the appreciation they deserve. It takes time and self-control to stop what we are doing and show sincere appreciation and gratitude to others. However, that time we take will be like an investment in the time they took to do it because it will generate more good, more appreciation and more gratitude. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 “Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” (NLT) Dear Lord, we are grateful to You for all you do. We also appreciate those who do Your will. Help us to recognize those people today and show them appreciation. Help us to have the self-control to stop what we are doing and take a minute to let them know how much they mean to us and how great it is they are doing Your will. We thank You for these people and we pray You will give them continued strength to follow through with what You call them to do. In Jesus’ name. Amen. Giving praise and appreciation generates a momentum of doing good. When good deeds go unnoticed, we should take time to show appreciation to the doer. It doesn’t take that long to tell someone they did a good job or send them a short note or appreciation. When we are specific and sincere as we show appreciation to others, they will know we care. When we praise and recognize others, we need to be sure we are giving God the glory in what He has done through them. 2 Corinthians 10:17-18 “As the Scriptures say, ‘If you want to boast, boast only about the Lord.’ When people commend themselves, it doesn’t count for much. The important thing is for the Lord to commend them.” (NLT) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_pu...d=FRANCESLUCAS

How true, I have no control, it is only by God personal empowerment gift to me, that I have any sense of control what so ever. It can't come from me, it is an illusion on my part and yours.
