Read John 14:1-6

An old lady was about to take her first plane ride. As the pilot buckled her in, she asked, “You will bring me back safely, won’t you?”

“Yes, ma’am,” he answered. “I’ve never left anyone up there.”

And our Lord won’t leave any of His own down here.

When you love someone, you want to be with that one always.

Our Lord loves us, and He wants us to be with Him forever. So He promised, “I go to prepare a place for you. I will come again and receive you unto Myself.”

Heaven is the perfection you’ve always longed for – beauty and blessedness, health and happiness, plenty and peace. And that’s our home, sweet home.

Prayer: We thank Thee, Father, for the hope of heaven. Inspire us to bring others to Thee and to heaven: through Christ. Amen.

My first thought when I saw the title was, "I was spiritually bankrupt" when I came into recovery. I had played my ace in the whole, not recognizing that I had the wrong suit, and the Ace I needed was a connection to my God.

There was no recourse, but to get clean and sober. To not do so, meant that I was rejecting God and choosing to die. I didn't know He had a purpose for me. I felt like so many people qualified much better than I did and was reinforced when I heard things like, "I spilled more than you drank." It isn't about what I used, it is about the thinking behind the drinking and drugging, and for that I need my God to cleanse me and make me whole. There was no me left, I was very fragmented, empty, and sick and tired of being tired and sick. I can still find myself going there in today, so I know what the solution is today, as the song says, "A little time with Jesus makes it right."

Learned this song many, many years ago.
