Voltaire’s words were:
“I do not agree with what you say,
but I would be prepared to die
to defend your right to say it.”

I AM

While Praying One Day A Woman Asked, "Who Are You Lord?

He Answered, "I Am" "But Who Is I Am? She Said.

And He Replied..."I Am love, I Am Peace,

I Am Grace, I Am Joy,

I Am The Way, Truth, And The Light...

I Am The Comforter,

I Am Strength, I Am Safety,

I Am Shelter, I Am Power , I Am The Creator,

I Am The Beginning And The End,

I Am The Most High."

The Girl With Tears In Her Eyes Looked

Toward Heaven And Said,

"Now I Understand. But Lord, Who Am I?"

Then God Tenderly Wiped The Tears

From Her Eyes And Whispered,

"You Are Mine."

Today's thought is: (November 2003)

Reflection for the Day

The first psychiatrist to recognize the work of Alcoholics Anonymous, Dr. Harry Tiebout, used many concepts of The Program in his own practice. Over many years, the doctor's study of the "conversion experience" led him to see, first, that it is the act of surrender which initiates the switch from negative to positive; second, that the positive phase is really a state of surrender which follows the act of surrender; and third, that the state of surrender, if maintained, supplies an emotional tone to all thinking and feeling that insures healthy adjustment. Am I living in a constant state of surrender?

Today I Pray

May I understand that I do not have to "unlearn" my respect for "self-reliance," that trait of character, which I heard praised so often from the time I was a tiny child. Only my understanding of the word must change. For as I come to know that "self" is part of God, that I am nothing except in His Being, there is no quarrel between self-reliance and God-reliance. May I rely upon that self, which is God's.

Today I Will Remember

Not part-god, but part of God.

You are reading from the book:

A Day at a Time by Anonymous
Surrender is such a big part of my recovery. I have to surrender my thoughts, my problems, my joys and my very being over to the God of my understanding.

It is only by surrender that I am empowered to do what I need to do for myself on a daily basis. Of myself I am nothing, but through Him, I can become all things.

I must always remain teachable, open to all things, and most importantly self-honesty. Without that, I am living illusion and grandeur of my own self-importance rather than in love and humility.

Surrender to win. Surrender does not mean giving up. It means having hope.

Daily Inspirations:

The little moments of the day are as important in building our foundation as the impact of great events. Lord, thank You for my blessings and my crosses. Graciously bless me with the courage to grow closer to You with all that fills my day.

Talent is the ability to do easily that which others find difficult. Lord, help me to recognize and value the abilities that I have been given and use them gratefully.

It is nice to have the things money can buy, but be sure that you don't lose the things money can't buy in the process. Lord, never let me forget who I am and that which truly means the most.

Every day renew your purpose because without purpose your life will be empty. Lord, grant that I am able to truly see the worth and value of my existence and know that my presence does make a difference.

Sometimes, a few words can have a big meaning.

Always like the saying, "Give credit where credit is due." Don't reward bad behaviour, but give praise when earned.

Respect need to be earned, it can't be founded on say so alone. It isn't going to happen if we just think it is our due, without doing something to warrant it.

"For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life:

weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning."

Psalm 30:5

Sunrise To Your Soul

~~~**~~~
God allows us to have "blue" seasons
where there is more weeping than laughing.
What we must remember is that they are only for a season.
That is crucial.
Joy will come in the morning, just as sure as the sunrise.
If you get up tomorrow morning to see the sunrise,
let me tell you what not to do.
Don't try to make it hurry up.
You can't do it.
You can get a brass band and cheerleaders,
but that sun is not going to come up
one second sooner than God intends.
Waiting on the Lord is like waiting on the sun to come up.
You can't hurry it.
You also can't stop it.
God is going to bring a sunrise to your soul.
Just wait for it.
And trust Him while you wait.
Are you in a waiting period . . .
praying days, weeks, months, even years,
for something and God hasn't answered?
Be still and know that in the fullness of time,
your request will be answered so positively.
"Be still, and know that I am God:
I will be exalted among the heathen,
I will be exalted in the earth."
