I hate waking up with that feeling. Then I am so happy to realize it is now a dream and not reality! When I have drinking dreams, it is usually just like real life--I am always looking for more, can never get enough. Hope to finally be done with that nonsense! Clinging to Jesus!

"Just like real life".......for a minute when I woke up, I wasn't sure if it was a dream or real life and checked to see if I had a hangover. Then I realized it was a dream.
It is a good reminder for myself to be on guard at all times. |

A using dream has always been a warning to get back to basics. To look at what I need to add or let go of to stay sober.
They say it is the feelings, not the visual that gives you the meaning to your dream. Did something trigger it? Did you have a resentment? Did you apply H.A.L.T. to all aspects of your disease? Where you hungry, angry, lonely, and tired mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and phsyical? It is a real relief that it isn't for real, and yet something is saying, it could be a reality if you don't make changes, perhaps rework a step, call your sponsor or clergyman to discuss things, more prayer and meditation (perhaps change the way you meditate if you already do). Sometimes I have to widen my horizons or change a limited outlook, so many ways this disease can slip in and try to take us out of our comfort zone. I had one about my family last night, it started with hurt, sad, and resentments which lead to them drinking and me thinking, if you can't beat them, join them. That is not good. Which means get back to basics and change your attitude, I can't work this program alone. That is why I come to the site to share.

Woke up with one of those dreams this morning at 3 a.m. I was at a table in the Legion that I use to 'live' in, I wasn't drinking, but the people at the table where. One of the guys who was quite intoxicated, had his wife to come and collect him and I was talking to her.
The normal thing for me when I am in pain, I want something to take it away. Don't want to go there in today, at least not abuse what I am allowed to take, and start thinking more or tell myself I need it or that more will help, when I know it won't. This means prayer and process. Quote:
