It doesn't matter if we all started out being this way or ended up devolving into it, not liking who we are is where we all end up when all of us come into recovery. And yet we all still pretend that we do like ourselves when we all know deep down inside that we don't. That is at the root of this problem, and it's the same for each and everyone of us, it's what we have in common, that brings all of us together. And it has been by our own thinking that we all have done this to ourselves. This is why none of us will ever be able to, on our own, learn how to like ourselves, because we just can't, and we'll never be able to do this on our own. We need each other to do this, and we can help each other and ourselves when we all try to do this together. That's how this works, that's what makes recovery possible for all of us and we all get to choose if we want to do this, learn how to like ourselves again and we can the moment we decide to join recovery we will. Without doing this we'll never be able to like ourselves and that's a fact that none of us will ever be able to learn how to live with.
