Our way isn't working, and will never work for any of us. It's our problem, us doing things our way. No matter how well we may or may not appear to be functioning on the outside the problem for all of us always lies within us. We all have innocently, foolishly, and unknowingly chosen a way for ourselves, that at best is dysfunctional, and could be fatal. All of us want to hang on to that way when we all begin recovery. We all do this out of some sense of pride, even though it's clear to everyone, even to ourselves, that this isn't working, yet we all still want to hold on to it. For all of us simply letting go of what's not working, and being willing to trying something different is when there is hope for all of us, and until then we'll all be stuck with what doesn't work, that we've already proven doesn't work, so there isn't any real need for us to hold on to this any longer. The way that we find in recovery does work, and all that any of us has to do to get that for ourselves, is to choose that just like we all did before when we all had chosen what didn't work, it's that simple. It's never easy for any of us to do this, but it's always worth doing, if we can.
