Most of us are introduced to recovery under some kind of duress, and what usually happens is when that recedes we question us needing recovery. Then we decide we want to continue the battle on our own, that it wasn't as bad as we thought. It is common enough that we all think this way amongst ourselves. It's predictable that we're all going to do this. As the fog lifts many of us we will want to rethink our position. It is a very dangerous place for us when we do this, it is what takes lots of us out of recovery never to return. What works when we start to think like this is to force ourselves to remember our past, and not to close the door on it. That's what brought us to recovery and will work to keep us in recovery. If we never forget where we came from we'll never have to go back there again.
