Default That First Year

While it is said that there are no big deals in recovery the completion of that first year of sobriety is huge. With all the holiday's, every changing season, all the events that came to pass and we didn't have to drink or use drugs. Few indeed will ever have to climb a mountain that high. What seemed impossible has been done. It is a great accomplishment to go just a day without drinking or drugging, left alone 365 continuous days. And more importantly it shows to us that the program of recovery works. When my sponsor congratulated me on my first year he said, now go out and do it again, and don't stop. Year after year, the years keep adding up it's unbelievable !!
