Wonderful News!
We sometimes get caught up in the familiarity of Christmas. We continue the traditions. Tell the same stories. We go through the familiar traditions quickly so we can get to the new. The new gifts. The new shows. The new recipes. However, God wants us to know that His message is the same. Although familiar, His message on this Christmas is the same as last Christmas. A Child is born. He came to save. It is wonderful news! Let's not forget to share God's love, His story and His reason for Christmas with those we care about this year and remember the power behind it is much greater than the newness of anything this world can offer. SCRIPTURE: Luke 1:31-33 "You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David. And he will reign over Israel forever; his Kingdom will never end!" (NLT) ACTION STEPS: 1. List some of your holiday traditions. 2. Write down what you enjoy most about Christmas. 3. Remember the miracle of Jesus' birth. 4. Share the great news about Jesus to all you are around. PRAYER: Dear Lord, help us to remember the great and mighty miracle of Jesus' birth. Remind us not to take it for granted. Help us to keep it fresh on our minds and not be complacent about it. The birth of Your Son, Jesus, is the greatest gift we could ever have. This gift from You has the power to save us from our sins. This give from You gives us hope. This gift from You makes all things right. Thank You, Lord, for Jesus. Thank You, Lord, for all of Your perfect plans and promises. In Jesus' name. Amen. REMEMBER: We shouldn't get complacent about Christmas and forget the true reason for it all. It is easy to get wrapped up in traditions of this world and the newness of the gifts. But let's not forget the true meaning. It takes just a small amount of time to share the real meaning of Christmas with others. Take some time to do so this year. The presents are nice but don't last. However, Jesus is the greatest gift of all and will last forever. The gift of Jesus from God was given to us many years ago and will last throughout eternity. FOCUS: 1 Corinthians 13:13 "Three things will last forever - faith, hope, and love - and the greatest of these is love." (NLT) God is love. His Son Jesus is love. Love will last forever. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_pu...log_id=6284774
