Default Setting Our Heart

Setting Our Heart

He did evil because he did not set his heart to seek the LORD. (2Chr 12:14)

If I would have just kept cool. But no, I had to turn around and try to make my point one more time. "If I hadn't done this... or if I'd only done this one thing..." We all stumble in many ways- and we have plenty to learn. However, we will be tools of evil when we don't set our heart to seek the Lord.

There was a king in Jerusalem named Rehoboam. He had goals and self esteem. The Word says that he "strengthened himself." But He did not draw close to the Lord in his every day thought life. 'He did evil because he did not set his heart to seek the LORD.' (2Chr 12:14)

When we do something evil, we call it a fall. But in truth, what we call a 'fall' is the crash while wandering around in the dark- the fall began when we quit seeking the Lord. We don't fall because He got upset and pulled away His protection. We fall because we wander away from our Light.

God wants us to be happy. He doesn't lie, He cannot lie. He is our One fulfillment- let us grow in the freedom and joy of repentance and delighting in Him. Let's pray.

Lord Jesus, have mercy on me when I get distracted, and grant me repentance. We belong at Your feet, listening to You.

Let this be the song of my heart: Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides You. (Psalm 73:25)

Grant us to grow with a heart that seeks You, to walk with You in all our thoughts. Thank You for Your faithful love, help us to delight in You today. Amen.

Today's very great and precious promise

The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth. (Psalm 145:18)

We have God's Word on it.
