Default Gentleness With Others

GENTLENESS WITH OTHERS

There are so many times that we speak or act without thinking. There are so many times we react to someone’s words or actions without being gentle in our response. When we are gentle with others, however, we can get so much more accomplished. When we are gentle with others, we can get things done. Gentleness with others shows we are controlled by God’s Spirit rather than our own selfish ways. We need to be more aware of our reactions to others and ask God to help us gently and humbly help them.

Galatians 6:1 “Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, we pray You will help us today to react gently and humbly as You call us to do. There will be times today when we want to overreact. There will be times today when we want to get upset. There will be times today when we want to take control. However, we need You to help us to respond with gentleness to others. We give our life and our day to You, Lord. Help us control our reactions. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Don’t take advantage of others – take advantage of opportunities.

God wants us to be gentle when we are helping others turn away from sin.

We should be gently and humble in our interactions with others.

Our reactions to those who oppose God should be gentle and humble.

2 Timothy 2:25 “Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people’s hearts, and they will learn the truth.” (NLT)

Proverbs 3:27 “Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them.” (NLT)

Focus today: Be gentle in words and kind in spirit.

Be gentle with others and with ourselves. It seemed like I was always my hardest task master, and I had to learn not to project my stuff onto others.
