Most of us have lived in a fantasy world that we create so we could pretend there's nothing wrong with us. Every now and then this world would come crashing down on us and we did the only thing we knew to do, pretend some more. It's hard to function day to day, when we're not connected to what's going on around us. Finally, after being forced to accept we have a problem, our pretending turns to denial, this denial will continue unless we stop our pretending. When we stop, we will realize how much of a burden it has been to us to do all this pretending. It's like as if a weight has been lifted off us, it feels so much better to just stop all our pretending. It will help us to begin to do this if we remember that, we don't have anything to fear really, we don't have to be perfect to be loved, and that no matter what's happened to us we can still choose to stop pretending.
