What can you do to calm your anger?
Don't befriend angry people or associate with hot-tempered people, or you will learn to be like them and endanger your soul. (NLT) - Proverbs 22:24-25
It's easy to pick up habits from others, even if we don't notice it. When the people we surround ourselves with are quick-tempered or hot-headed, we may begin to view their behavior as an effective way to get service or attention. But remember, these habits aren't effective at becoming Christlike. Are there particular situations where you become quick-tempered? What can you do to calm your anger in the future? Remember your Spiritual Side.
Recognize it, acknowledge it, express it in a healthy way, don't bury it, don't ignore it, it has to come out or it festers inside and you get compounded interest. Take it to God and let go. Take a walk, journal, get a bat and hit a pillow instead of you hitting and hurting others, call your sponsor, your minister, another group member, and anything else it takes to release it. Go to the source, what caused it, what triggered it, is this a today thing or does it have a link to my past? When you bring it out of the darkness, it can heal when it is brought to the light. Remember what you see in others is a reflection from within yourself, it takes one to know one. It is best to not feed the anger, especially by self-righteousness and take our own inventory. We don't have to associate with these people, but we do have to love and pray for them, they too are Children of God.
