The Key To Loving Others
The Key To Loving Others
Now may the Lord of peace Himself grant you His peace (the peace of His kingdom) at all times and in all ways [under all circumstances and conditions, whatever comes]. —2 Thessalonians 3:16 The Bible says to love your neighbor as yourself (Luke 10:27); the key is to love yourself. You won’t enjoy your day until you learn to accept and enjoy yourself, because you have to eat with youself, sleep with youself, and be with yourself all day. Until you are happy with who you are and where you are in life, you will never learn to love others or get to where you want to be. Don’t get down on yourself about everything you didn’t do right yesterday. Today is a new day. Learn to love your life, right now, right where you are now. Say, “I am grateful to be a child of God, redeemed and made righteous in His eyes. I am going to enjoy myself all day long.” From the book Starting Your Day Right: Devotions for Each Morning of the Year by Joyce Meyer.

Like the message this carries. In other words, do not beat yourself up. This is a one day at a time program and each day is a new beginning.
All we are asked to do is try. The failure is in not trying. Trying and not measuring up to yours or the expectation of others, can feel like failure, but if we tried our best, it is a lesson to be learned and an experience for growth. That is how to love yourself. As they say in Al-Anon: Let it begin with me, I can not pass it on if I can not find it within myself. Why bring down people to make yourself feel better? Why bring them down to your level when you could pick them up and raise them and yourself? Come from a place of Love, go to your God and ask for His peace and understanding.
