Default Finding Our Own Niche

Wanting things to be better for ourselves is the reason lots of us stumbled upon the program of recovery, that none of us ever want or think it has anything to do with us, or have any interest in finding anything out about. We're all sure that there must be something else that's better suited to us than this program. Besides, we really don't like lots of what we're hearing that is being said about us from recovery. At the same time there is something about it we can't quite put our finger on or figure out. It's almost to the point where we want to know why it even peaks our interest at all. We're in the right place alright, but very few of us ever think so. Recovery is tailor made for people like us who have this problem, and it's been made to solve that problem for us, if only we're willing to give it a chance to do so, but most of us aren't even willing to that, and here's the scariest part of all, it's been left up to each of us if we'll even be willing to try recovery.

The 12 step program peaked my interest at my second meeting. I believe I started listening to others then. I related to people for the first time. I had some awesome sponsors along the way who taught me the difference between talking about the steps and living them. I had three relapses because I stopped living the steps. Choosing to live the steps again is what brought me back. I am grateful for the program. It has helped me where nothing else could. God and AA are my niche
