Default Daily Cleansing

DAILY CLEANSING

This time of year is well-known for spring cleaning. Some of us give our house a thorough cleaning to get rid of the dust, dirt and germs that have been trapped inside due to the long winter months. A good cleaning gets rid of germs and makes the house smell fresh, feel good and look better. When we don’t take time to clean, it shows…in more ways than one. This is true with our body, minds and souls as well. How can we remove the scum and filth in these areas? God can help. We can read His word and learn how. Then we can be cleansed and ready to do God’s will. We can keep ourselves pure and clean when we draw close to God.

SCRIPTURE:
2 Timothy 2:21 “If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work.” (NLT)

ACTION STEPS:
1. List what filth and dirt may have crept into your life.
2. Write down ways you can keep yourself pure.
3. Draw close to God and seek His will for your life.
4. Read His word and allow Him to cleanse you daily.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, we know You want us to stay pure so You can use us to live according to Your will. We can be cleansed by reading Your word, confessing our sins, seeking Your forgiveness and submitting our lives to You. When our lives are clean, we know we are ready to do good work for You. Help us to keep focused on remaining pure in Your eyes and living in obedience to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

REMEMBER:
We can remain pure by reading God’s word and living in obedience to Him.

Getting rid of all the filth in our lives will help us better focus on God.

Fellowship with others believers will help us to stay pure and living for God.

1 Timothy 5:22b “Do not share in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure.” (NLT)

We can keep ourselves pure when we resist temptation to sin and draw close to God.

FOCUS: James 1:21 “So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.” (NLT)

Getting rid of the filth in our lives that creeps in from this world is a daily challenge but can be done when we give our lives to God every day.

We stay sober and clean together - one day at a time!
