Precious Promises – Day 30 by SGLY Ministry
Today’s Promise: WORRY Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Philippians 4:6 (NLT) Today’s Thought: The promise we receive when we don’t worry is peace. For Philippians 4:7 says: “Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” When we worry we are miserable, unhappy, and stressed. We don’t eat right, nor sleep right and we often miss out on enjoying everyday life. Worrying doesn’t do us any good and it surely doesn’t bring glory to God so God tells us that if we give all our cares to Him, we will receive His peace and He will take care of what we need because He cares about us. Sounds like a good trade-off to me! Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. 1 Peter 5:7 (NLT) Today’s Prayer: Dear God, I am so thankful that You care about me and that You promise to meet my needs and give me peace if I will just stop worrying and place my trust in You. So today I am going to let go of all my cares and give them to You God and then I am going to walk in the peace that You provide to me and bring glory to Your name! Thank You God! In Jesus name I pray. Amen. ********** Spring Cleaning: Let in the Fresh Air Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory. 1 Peter 1:8 Recommended Reading: 1 Peter 4:7-11 It’s that time of year when we begin to put away the accumulation of things we have had in our homes during the winter—the space heaters and extra blankets, and even our sweaters and heavy coats can be moved out of sight as we prepare for spring. Whether it is dusting off our shutters and blinds, washing our windows, or just taking a walk to enjoy the fresh air, the change in season seems to call for a change in us as well. For seasons occur not only on the calendar but also in our lives. With the springtime comes the reminder to begin anew and to look for fresh opportunities to serve the Lord. Find a place where you can bless those around you, take that opportunity to make a difference. There is joy in serving the Lord! I have found the joy no tongue can tell, how its waves of glory roll! It is like a great o’erflowing well springing up within my soul. It is joy unspeakable and full of glory! Barney E. Warren ********** Expect a Turnaround by Joyce Meyer As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today. — Genesis 50:20 This verse is part of the story of how God promoted Joseph to a place of power after his brothers had sold him into slavery. It is a great testament to God’s desire and ability to overcome evil with good. Joseph’s brothers meant to destroy him, but Joseph became second in command to Pharaoh and was used by God to save not only his own family, but many thousands of others. Sometimes you forget how big your God is. Whatever may have happened to you in the past, you must understand it doesn’t have to dictate your future. Set your faith and trust in God, and watch to see how He will turn it around for your good. Rejoice! God has a good plan for your life. Prayer Starter: Father, thank You that You are fair, even when life’s not fair. Help me to put the past behind me and trust You to work everything out for my good. In Jesus’ Name, Amen. ********** God Is Love Troubles and hardship seem to become a part of our daily lives. When they do, we need to keep our focus on one truth: God is love. If we can focus on this truth and the hope that comes with it, we will not allow our troubles to become the center of our thoughts and overtake us.” “Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid, just believe.” (Mark 5:26 NIV) The Whisper Of God ********** Bearing Fruit You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and I have appointed you [I have planted you], that you might go and bear fruit and keep on bearing, and that your fruit may be lasting [that it may remain, abide], so that whatever you ask the Father in My Name [as presenting all that I AM], He may give it to you. John 15:16 The Bible says that we are blessed if our confidence is in the Lord. We will be like trees planted by the waters that continue to bear fruit (See Jeremiah 17:7–8). I admit that sometimes, at the end of a day, we may feel that all of our fruit has been picked! But God will replenish us if we abide in Him. If we put our trust in God, we will bear all kinds of fruit, and will have new fruit to share with others every morning. From the book Starting Your Day Right by Joyce Meyer. ********** Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. — Proverbs 4:25 (NIV) Look Ahead by Joyce Meyer Many people feel bothered by things in their past. Sometimes, this is simply an undercurrent of feeling uneasy and unable to completely relax. Sometimes, it’s a nagging regret or an ongoing disappointment that infects people’s hearts and minds each day. Whether you think your past has a little influence or a great impact on your present, let me say that the past does not have to negatively affect your current life. God forgives. God redeems. God heals. God restores. Today’s scripture offers clear direction about how to deal with the past. It basically says, “Don’t look back.” If your past weighs you down and keeps you from enjoying your present or looking forward to your future, spend some time with God, allowing Him to help you move beyond it, or you may want to get some professional counseling. Whatever you have to do to put your past behind you, I urge you to do it. Don’t waste another day looking back, but look straight ahead, as today’s scripture says, to the great future God has planned for you. Prayer of the Day: Father, help me turn my focus away from my past and let my eyes look straight ahead to what You have planned for me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
