Precious Promises – Day 1 by SGLY Ministry

Today’s Promise: ASSURANCE
“Because of Christ and our faith in Him, we can now come fearlessly into God’s presence, assured of His glad welcome.” Ephesians 3:12 [NLT]

Today’s Thought: What a blessing our faith in Jesus affords us! We have the assurance that we can come fearlessly into God’s presence at any time, with any problems, struggles, or concerns and He will gladly welcome us.

The Door of Heaven has been opened by Jesus and God is there gladly welcoming us to come into His presence.

Today’s Prayer:
Dear God,
I claim this Precious Promise of Assurance!
I believe Your word that says, because of Jesus and my faith in Him, I can come into Your presence fearlessly, at any time, with any concern, and you will gladly welcome me.
Thank You, God for this blessed assurance and precious promise. Amen

Medicine for Your Soul

He will not always chide or be contending, neither will He keep His anger forever or hold a grudge. —Psalm 103:9

When someone mistreats me, I initially feel angry, then I spend the next few minutes or hours, depending on the seriousness of the mistreatment, getting the emotion under control by talking to God. When you feel angry, consider these appropriate actions: talk to yourself about how foolish it is to let some unkind person ruin your day, and then follow Scripture and pray for the person who hurt you. Decide to believe the best of the person who offended you, and try to get your mind off the offense and onto something more pleasant. It is also helpful to remember that we also do things that hurt people, and often without even intending to do so. Obeying and meditating on the Word of God is medicine for our souls. It brings not only instruction, but comfort in every situation.

Power Thought: I am slow to anger and quick to forgive.

Quick to Forgive

And become useful and helpful and kind to one another, tenderhearted…forgiving one another [readily and freely], as God in Christ forgave you. —Ephesians 4:32

The Bible teaches us to forgive “readily and freely.” That is God’s standard for us, no matter how we feel about it. We are to be quick to forgive.

According to 1 Peter 5:5, we can clothe ourselves with the character of Jesus Christ, meaning that we can choose to be long-suffering, patient, not easily offended, slow to anger, quick to forgive, and filled with mercy. My definition of “mercy” is to look beyond what is done to me that hurts and discover the reason why it was done. Many times people do things even they don’t understand themselves, but there is always a reason why people behave as they do. Perhaps they are hurting and in their own pain they don’t even realize they are hurting someone else.

God forgives! We are to be merciful and forgiving, just as God in Christ forgives us our wrongdoing. He not only sees what we do that is wrong, but He understands why we did it, and is merciful and long-suffering. The choice to forgive others is ours. God will not force anyone to do it. Even if you don’t understand it, believe that God’s way is the best. It works. He can take what Satan meant to destroy you and turn it for your good.

We are to forgive in order to keep Satan from getting the advantage over us.

From the book Closer to God Each Day by Joyce Meyer.

Hand Of Blessing by Seek Ye First the Kingdom

I remember when my children were toddlers, my wife and I seemed to have an extra sense, and could tell what my children were up to even without watching everything they were doing. It was a combination of caring and awareness. We would intervene sometimes to prevent them from getting into trouble or sometimes let them experience challenges to help them learn.

Though at a much different level, these memories came to mind when I was reading Psalm 139:1-6, “O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord. You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand!”

God is completely aware of our every action, thought, and feeling, and He cares about each of us.

Dear Lord, what a joy it is to know that you are aware of our every situation and concern, and care for us with your “hand of blessing.” Help us remember this so we can overcome our fears with trust in you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
