“For the man sound in body and serene of mind
there is no such thing as bad weather;
every day has its beauty,
and storms which whip the blood
do but make it pulse more vigorously.”
George Gissing
Winter," The Private Papers of Henry Ryecroft
“Climate is what we expect,
weather is what we get.”
Mark Twain
“On cable TV they have a weather channel –
24 hours of weather.
We had something like that where I grew up.
We called it a window”
Dan Spencer

“A perfectly healthy sentence, it is true,
is extremely rare.
For the most part we miss
the hue and fragrance of the thought;
as if we could be satisfied
with the dews of the morning
or evening without their colors,
or the heavens without their azure.”
Henry David Thoreau
“We see flowers of all kinds.
Men are able to make plastic flowers…
But can any one fill the plastic flowers
with the native fragrance
that is got from natural flowers?
This is possible only by the Divine.”
Sri Sathya Sai Baba
“The fragrance of white tea
is the feeling of existing
in the mists that float over waters;
the scent of peony
is the scent of the absence of negativity:
a lack of confusion, doubt, and darkness;
to smell a rose is to teach your soul to skip;
a nut and a wood together
is a walk over fallen Autumn leaves;
the touch of jasmine
is a night's dream under the nomad's moon.”

Monday night about 10 my phone and internet disappeared.
This morning the technician at Time Warner checked (after I had talked to three people)
and said my modem had died and they would replace it.
Because this is the second time this happened in two weeks, they were going to try to do it on Tuesday.
Like, immediately! Wow!
Nope. Didn’t happen.
My son came over this evening and did something that resuscitated it and said make sure it gets replaced. I’m on the schedule for Wednesday morning.
????????????
Maybe I shouldn’t wait another hour+ to send these….
But, it lasted two weeks the last time it was resuscitated….
“The first rule of any technology used in a business
is that automation applied to an efficient operation
will magnify the efficiency.
The second is that automation
applied to an inefficient operation
will magnify the inefficiency.”
Bill Gates
“It is only when they go wrong
that machines remind you how powerful they are.”
Clive James
“Technology… is a queer thing.
It brings you great gifts with one hand,
and it stabs you in the back with the other.”
